Blake Roux
I'm a Penn State undergraduate studying Communications with interests in film, visual arts, photography, and storytelling. I earned a 4.00 semester GPA and Dean's List recognition in Spring 2026, with a 3.53 cumulative GPA as of Fall 2026. My life has not followed a traditional script. But perhaps that is exactly what makes me want to become a storyteller. I know what it feels like to look at the world and wonder where you belong. I know what it feels like to find an escape in imagination. Now, I want to use my creativity to give that same feeling to someone else, to create stories that make people feel seen, inspire them to dream, and remind them that their circumstances do not have to define their future. I hope you enjoy reading "My Story" and how my life's experiences have molded me into who I am today.
Education — College
Penn State University
Currently studying Film Production and Digital Arts & Media Design at Penn State University, with a minor in Political Science.
My coursework spans cinematography, editing, screenwriting, and digital design — building the technical and creative foundation for a career in visual storytelling. I served as the Theater Technician at the PSU Middletown campus, where my job duties included lighting and sound.
The Political Science minor reflects my belief that storytelling and civic life are inseparable — the best films say something true about the world. Growing up with my mother as a single parent, we did not have the financial means to start a college fund. Like many American families, we lived paycheck to paycheck. College often felt like a dream that would be difficult to achieve, but I never stopped believing that creativity could take me somewhere beyond the circumstances I grew up in. I am at a pivotal point in my life where I have the opportunity to turn my dream into reality. With the help of scholarships, I am determined to make the most of that opportunity.
